Plant Design Services
Vaestus GmbH provides all of the engineering and design services required for the implementation of projects in various process and utility industries. Every project is unique and has requirements specific to the client, business, and country. Broad experience of Vaestus’s engineers makes a detailed understanding of the services to be provided possible.
Successful design and planning comes through a well prepared engineering and design process. Coordination of interdisciplinary interfaces is key, and Vaestus uses interdisciplinary reviews to ensure top-quality engineering and design.
Vaestus provides advice and support for the development and realization of new project ideas.
While working towards solutions, investors, clients, and project developers must check and ensure that project ideas are viable. It is critical that they also identify the technical, operational, and economic constraints of a given project prior to making investment decisions.
Vaestus facilitates those processes, helping to identify and minimize environmental and societal impacts and assessing the likelihood of receiving authority approval.
Chemical engineering design of new chemical plants and the expansion or revision of existing ones require the use of engineering principles and theories combined with a practical realization of the limits imposed by industrial conditions.
Setting the Design Basis (Data Collection) The most important step in starting a process design is translating the customer need into a design basis. The design basis is a more precise statement of the problem that is to be solved. It will normally include the production rate and purity specifications of the main product, together with information on constraints that will influence the design.
Process Design
“Process design is the lifeblood of chemical engineering,” says Arberor Mita, President of Vaestus. “It’s all about using science and experience to develop and optimize the ‘best’ method to transform incoming feedstocks into higher value products.”
Vaestus's principals have been involved in hundreds of projects for customers around the world. “Yes, we always start with proven chemical engineering fundamentals. But then we add experience, heuristics, intuition, computer simulation, and a ‘never-say-die’ attitude into the equation,” he adds. “It’s been a win-win formula that has enabled us to successfully work on assignments that many of our friends in the industry have shied away from.”
The standard practice of process engineering at Vaestus involves the preparation of these types of documents:

Plant Layout and Piping Design
Vaestus utilizes the Autodesk Plant Design Suite software for all our plant design work; including the following:
-
Generation of 2D process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams.
-
3D Plant design including piping design, skid and equipment layouts and structural design.
-
Customized process components including pumps, valves, and inline instrumentation created with Autodesk Inventor for better design accuracy and graphical representation.
-
Visualization tools including Navisworks and Showcase software.

Plant System Design
The FEED stage typically requires contributions from other engineering disciplines based on the requirements of the project including:
-
Mechanical Engineering
-
Piping Design
-
Electrical Engineering
-
Control Engineering
-
Structural Engineering
The standard practice of process engineering at Vaestus involves the preparation of these types of documents:

Steel Structural Design
For larger modular systems fabricated from structural steel, we carry out comprehensive structural analysis to ensure the proper module structure design. In modular design special attention to lifting and transportation related loading must be considered. We have experience with a wide variety of site locations with demanding environmental conditions.
